THE WINNIE WINO TOUR

January 12, 2013

The new coach had been sitting for over two months and I really needed an RV fix, if only for a day. So we organized a family wine tasting trip on a weekend day, and invited some of the working family members to join us.

Our trip was just up into the foothills near Murphys, California. We intended to visit the wineries in town, but managed to spend so much time at three in the countryside near Murphys that we never actually made it to town.

Here the family poses for a Winnie Wino Tour photo. L to R: Darren and Ashley, and Stephanie, Lavonne's two nieces and husband, me, Lavonne, our grand daughter Breanne, and our son, Craig. This was taken at Indian Rock Winery near Murphys.

That pond in the background is loaded with trout to about 20 inches. They are used to being fed and come right up to the bank when approached. Man, could I limit out there some night!

We took our time at each stop, and before long the day was growing late. We headed for home after the last stop at Indian Rock Winery, but stopped in at the little foothill town of Angels Camp for dinner. The guys all wound up at a Chinese restaurant and the gals ate at a Mexican restaurant right next door.

Of the seven of us who enjoyed the tour, only three did much wine tasting. I, the designated driver, had none. But I'm not a wine drinker so I didn't have to fight temptation. Now if we ever go on a Winnie Beer Tour, I'll have to hire a driver!

It was good to drive the tour for the family. Although we covered only 150 miles that day, I got my RV fix and the family had a grand time touring.

The tri-monthly visit to my son's home in Oceanside is coming later this month, and it's good to know that the new coach is running fine and ready for a longer run. And so am I! Life is good.
