Jacks Down at Guajome Park in Oceanside, CA

It was again time for a trip to see my son and his family near San Diego. I drove to the top of the Grapevine on day one where I stayed at the Frazier Park Flying J Travel Plaza. On Day two I drove through Los Angeles to Oceanside. Driving through LaLa Land is as miserable a drive as there is. But once into Orange County, the highway opens up to more and newer lanes for an easier drive. I always leave early Sunday morning to avoid the usual LaLa Land traffic snarls.

With the Grandkids: Aidan, 3 (L) and Connor, 7, in a very rare, somewhat quiet and relaxed moment.

A Day At The Ball Park

Connor hurls one for the home team. This is Little League AAA where the kids are just learning the skills to play the game. Connor lives and breathes baseball. Connor and Aiden's dad, my son Dean, is the coach.

Coach Dean shakes out chalk lines before the game.

The price of gas is taking some of the fun out of RVing this year, but it's still worth the price to sleep in one's own bed every night and to eat cheaply and well at "home". When and if gas gets to $4 and more per gallon, I'll have to rethink this RVing. At some point it may no longer be worth the cost of gas!
